How are you all guys? Hope you enjoyed my last post. Our today’s topic is Mother Teresa. People of all over the world know this name. Today is her birth date. On this day in the year of 1910, she was born in a small town name Skopje in Albania. She was the youngest of her six brothers and sisters. You people know that what did she did for the poor people. Well, if you don’t know, don’t worry. After reading my post you will know everything about her.


Mother Teresa’s real name was Mary Teresa Bojaxhiu. She took the title Teresa later after coming to Kolkata. From her childhood, she wanted to be a nun. At the age of 18, she left her home and her family and went to Ireland to learn English. There she joined the Sisters of Loreto at Loreto Abbey. From then, her life begun as a nun. After learning English she was sent to India as a missionary. She always wanted to be a missionary and the help the people from her childhood. So, she became so happy and began her work in Darjeeling. For helping the local poor people she learned the Bengali language. She also knew three other languages as a result of her visits to all over the world.


On 10 September 1946, she was traveling to Calcutta from Darjeeling. She was going there by train. During her journey, she witnessed the real condition of the poor people around her. They were neglected, unloved, unwanted and was ill. And many of them were homeless also. Seeing this was very painful to her. Then she decided to help them and treat them. She left her comfortable life and took a white sari with a blue border and went down to the street to collect supply for the poor and ill people. Later she created Missionaries of Charity and many other charitable institutes all over across India. And later she expanded her Missionaries of Charity from India to other countries which had over 4,500 nuns and was active in 130 countries in 2012. She was really a great person.


She was awarded many prizes around the world including the Nobel Peace Prize. She died on 5 September 1997 at the age of 87 after several heart attacks. Though she was criticized by many people still she is an icon of love and humanity all over the world.
