Hans Christian Gram

Hi there! I am Aupurbo Kumar Mohonto. I am here to share the details about today’s trending topic “Hans Christian Gram”. So let’s start!

I am here! It is a long time I did not post anything. Today is Friday and a am here to post an article. You already know about today's topic. Today is Hans Christian Grams birthday. In 1853 on this day he was born. He was a scientist who has many contributions to our modern-day medical science. Let's talk about this great man.

Frederik Terkel Julius Gram was Grams father. His father was a professor of jurisprudence. I don’t know what it is! You can ask Google. Ok, back to the topic. When he was a student, he assisted a zoologist. He was a student at the University of Copenhagen. At that time he made many plants useful to pharmacology. He also started the use of a microscope.

Gram is mostly known for his incredible standard for bacteria. He for the first time made a standard to measure or classify bacteria. It is called a Gram Stain. It is a liquid mixture made by him. This standard works on the color that bacteria made when they are poured into this. If the bacteria turns purple then it is a Gram-positive bacteria and if the bacteria turns red then it is a Gram-negative bacteria. It is the greatest discovery of his life. Even scientists of today use this standard to classify bacteria. Gram was appointed as a professor at the University of Copenhagen in the year of 1981. Later he resigned from that post in order to study in medicine. Gram also researched about the blood cells in the men body. It was his career.

Today Google is commemorating his birthday with a Doodle for Canada, Peru, Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, India and some European country.

That is for today guys!
